So, who is Nick Simmons, really? A man who apparently plagiarizes the very policies of his political opponents, presents recycled ideas as his own, and aligns himself with the silent erosion of Connecticut’s economy and the intellectual freedom of its residents.
Simmons is a product of Harvard Business School, an institution that, in recent years, has seen its reputation soiled. Harvard's own president, Claudine Gay, was forced to resign following accusations of plagiarism—an institutional scandal that casts a long shadow over the legitimacy of the school's academic rigor. A degree from Harvard might once have signaled excellence, but today, it’s more a badge of elitism than anything else.
Simmons - one of Harvards “apples” doesn’t appear to be falling far from that tree. His campaign, which claims to bring fresh ideas to the table, is increasingly being exposed as a well-crafted act of ideological plagiarism and statist manipulation. Consider his sudden embrace of energy policies eerily similar to those long championed by his Republican opponent, Ryan Fazio. In an obvious bid to confuse voters and blur party lines, Simmons has shamelessly lifted key portions of Fazio’s comprehensive energy policy—policies aimed at restoring competitiveness, lowering energy costs, and promoting economic growth.
Just as Claudine Gay’s plagiarism scandal exposed the intellectual bankruptcy within Harvard’s leadership, Simmons and other Connecticut Democrats have begun to plagiarize Republican policies in a desperate attempt to stay politically relevant. Reports indicate that Democrats, including Simmons, have started co-opting Republican initiatives and rhetoric to confuse voters, blurring the lines between their own failed governance and the more effective, liberty-minded policies of the GOP.
Republican Ryan Fazio has been vocal in his call for a competitive and reliable energy market. Fazio has consistently championed a strategy that avoids government picking winners and losers, calling instead for an “all-of-the-above” approach to clean energy. As Fazio clearly stated, “First, we need an all-of-the-above clean energy strategy in this state. We should not have the state constantly picking winners and losers among sources of clean energy... That means all forms of nuclear, all forms of hydro, and other more reliable and affordable forms of clean energy should be on equal footing in the state's renewable portfolio standard with wind and solar and other sources of energy.”
In a near carbon copy, Simmons has released an energy proposal that advocates for virtually the same approach, under the guise of new thinking: “Promote a competitive energy market by supporting an ‘all-of-the-above’ energy strategy. This includes placing all zero-carbon energy sources—such as wind, solar, hydropower, and nuclear—on an equal footing to ensure fair treatment.” If that’s not outright policy plagiarism, what is?
Then, consider Fazio’s second point—a cap on state-directed electricity costs to no more than 150% above competitive power market prices. This was part of Fazio’s plan to prevent families and businesses from paying inflated costs for electricity, which he introduced long before Simmons decided to adopt it. As Fazio aptly put it, “Second, we would limit the cost of any state-directed electricity contracts to no more than 150% above competitive power markets.”
Simmons' so-called "innovative" plan states almost the same thing, now under his name: “Advocate for caps on energy costs by ensuring state-negotiated electricity contracts are limited to reasonable rates—no more than 150% above competitive market prices.” The only thing missing from Simmons’ rhetoric is a footnote attributing his energy policy to Fazio. This ideological theft is not only a dishonest tactic but a dangerous one.

The Eversource Surcharge: A Case of Democratic Deception
Simmons has facilitated policies that actively harmed his constituents, such as the hidden Eversource surcharge. Connecticut residents, already struggling under one of the highest costs of living in the nation, have been hit with surcharges from Eversource endorsed by the Democratic leadership, including Simmons. These are nothing more than stealth taxes on the working and middle-class families of Connecticut.
Despite his rhetoric about "fiscal responsibility" and "economic growth," Simmons remained conspicuously silent as these surcharges were passed with little to no transparency but now all of a sudden he got religion and wants to resolve this energy crisis ? LOL. Local Democrats like Reps Rachel Khanna, Steve Meskers & Hector Arzeno who should be fighting for their constituents, have also fallen in line, complicit in this covert tax scheme. They are all elitists and effete snobs. Trust me I live among them.
In stark contrast, Republican leadership, particularly State Senator Ryan Fazio, has spearheaded efforts to expose these hidden taxes and push for legislation that holds the state accountable. Fazio’s advocacy for fiscal transparency and government accountability demonstrates his commitment to defending taxpayers—while Democrats like Simmons continue their pattern of deception, hiding the true costs of their policies from the public. Why? Because that’s what liars do.
Overloading the System: Cloward-Piven in Action
Simmons’ broader agenda aligns disturbingly well with the infamous Cloward-Piven strategy—an approach designed to overload the welfare system, create dependency, and force a crisis that justifies further government control. By pushing for massive spending in areas like education and infrastructure, Simmons claims to be "investing" in Connecticut’s future. Anyone recall when CT politicians told us that monies from the Indian Casinos were going towards education but somehow schools never saw that money ? Yeah, me neither. In reality, these policies are designed to overwhelm the state’s economic systems, creating a dependence on government intervention rather than actually solving the problem. To the point - they actually create the problems and then act as intercessors coming to save us. It’s gaslighting on a colossal scale or rather lets just call it what it is. A political mafia tactic.
Simmons boasts about his role in "investing hundreds of millions of dollars into Connecticut schools and infrastructure" during his time in Governor Ned Lamont’s administration. What he doesn’t tell you is that these so-called “investments” have led to higher taxes, more regulations, and further entrenchment of the state’s bureaucratic stranglehold. Once again, political mafia. This is not economic growth; this is economic sabotage, clothed in the language of “progress”.
When Simmons speaks of learning from Governor Lamont how to "grow the economy," he is echoing a hollow, failed mantra. Connecticut’s economy, far from booming, is being crushed by regulations, environmental extremism, and an exodus of both businesses and residents. Simmons’ Harvard education and time in the Lamont administration have taught him one thing: how to dress up authoritarian policies in the language of economic recovery. See the real deal here is politicians like Simmons and Lamont need you to be stupid so they can continue to piss on your leg and tell you it’s raining. Spare umbrella’s can be found in the lobby.
Teachers Unions and Ideological Terrorism
Connecticut’s education system has also become a battleground for ideological subversion, held hostage by teachers’ unions more interested in promoting political indoctrination than academic achievement. Simmons, during his time in the Biden administration, played a key role in channeling $190 billion into schools, ostensibly to help students and teachers recover from the COVID-19 pandemic. But rather than fostering a return to normalcy and intellectual growth, this funding has been used to further ideological agendas in classrooms across Connecticut.

Teachers’ unions, empowered by the Democrats, have engaged in what can only be described as ideological terrorism, using the classroom as a platform for promoting divisive doctrines like in a modern Maoist vernacular. This is not education—it’s indoctrination. The U.S. Supreme Court has long ruled that teaching ideology in public schools is unconstitutional (Board of Education v. Barnette, 1943), yet under Simmons’ watch, Connecticut schools have continued to flout this precedent, pushing students towards ideological conformity and away from critical thinking.
Simmons is a self-proclaimed champion of underprivileged youth and economic growth, but he’s really just another political sock puppet in a long line of well-polished bureaucrats running cover for a system designed to perpetuate itself at the expense of the very people he claims to serve.
Economic Terrorism: The Democrats' Spending and Project Mismanagement in Connecticut
The fiscal policies and government spending overseen by Connecticut Democrats can be viewed through the lens of economic terrorism—a term that aptly describes the deliberate and reckless management of public funds and the imposition of heavy financial burdens on residents. Instead of fostering economic growth, Connecticut’s current governance seems to be orchestrating a slow economic collapse, overwhelming its citizens with unaffordable energy prices, rising taxes, and inflated costs of living, while sidelining initiatives that could spur prosperity.
Democrats in Connecticut have been indulging in unchecked government spending, prioritizing large-scale projects that fail to deliver meaningful returns. Whether it is investing in green energy initiatives or expanding social programs, the scale of spending has become unsustainable and unproductive. Far from stimulating the state’s economy, the burden of these projects has been passed on to taxpayers, resulting in increased financial strain on middle and working-class families (24/7 Wall St.).
The Democratic Party has largely controlled Connecticut's state policy for several decades. In the Connecticut House of Representatives, Democrats have held the majority since 1986. As of April 2024, they maintain a strong 98-53 majority in the House. In the Connecticut State Senate, Democrats have controlled the chamber since 1996, currently holding a 24-12 majority.
Residents of Connecticut no longer have to wonder how third world countries function - all they need to do is just go visit Bridgeport, New Haven, Waterbury, Hartford, New London and they’ll get an eye full. In fact we are importing enough poverty that the landscape of our cities and towns might be largely unrecognizable within the next decade.
They say the fish rots from the head down and as democrats continue to metastasize in state governments those states quickly become cancer patients, hair falling out of the head bodies emaciated until they finally roll over and just die.
Simmons was properly groomed just they way the system intended him to be. Smart enough to pass through the system that needs to perpetuate it’s existence but dumb enough not to know he’s just a means to an end.
