It’s time for a recalibration—a Republican “dream team” that offers Connecticut a real chance at renewal. A lineup featuring Leora Levy for Governor, State Senator Ryan Fazio for Lieutenant Governor, and Attorney Lindy Urso for Attorney General could do just that. Together, their strengths align to directly address Connecticut’s most pressing issues—from economic stagnation to corruption and governmental overreach.
Connecticut Republicans have long faced an uphill battle against an entrenched Democratic political machine. Yet, under the leadership of State GOP Chairman Ben Proto, the party’s recent trajectory seems increasingly detached from the concerns of Connecticut’s voters. Critics from within the GOP—and frustrated constituents—have pointed to Proto’s apparent fixation on process over results, failing to produce candidates who inspire confidence or offer a viable path to electoral success. Instead, Proto’s tenure has been marked by placeholder candidates and opportunities squandered while the state’s economic and cultural fabric deteriorates under Democratic leadership. And lets not mention the CT GOP infighting where entrenched GOP candidates or administrators and political strategy is to appease Democrats at every turn. This failing strategy has to come to an end.
Leora Levy: A Candidate of Substance
Leora Levy’s personal story alone sets her apart. Born in Cuba, Levy’s family fled Fidel Castro’s communist regime, a journey that has deeply shaped her understanding of the dangers of centralized, authoritarian governance. Her success as a commodities trader—one of the few women in a male-dominated field—and her philanthropic endeavors showcase her resilience and leadership.
Levy staunchly opposed Blumenthal’s support of the funding of Biden’s “Build Back Better” as well as all the additional spending on the 80K + IRS agents
Levy’s staunch stance against Ned Lamont’s brand of liberalism positions her as a candidate who can directly challenge the Democratic governor on his track record. Lamont’s tenure has been marked by policies that have failed to deliver sustainable economic growth, despite boasting one of the highest tax burdens in the nation. Unfinished infrastructure projects, an exodus of businesses, and stagnant job creation paint a grim picture. Lamont’s inability to curb unfunded liabilities or incentivize meaningful business investment further underscores the need for Levy’s decisive leadership.
State Senator Ryan Fazio: Pragmatic and Effective
Ryan Fazio’s rise in the Connecticut legislature has been notable for his ability to work across the aisle without compromising core conservative principles. Since his election in 2021, Fazio has co-authored bipartisan legislation to strengthen utility oversight and increase local control over zoning decisions—a critical issue as Hartford’s policies under 8-30g continue to undermine community autonomy and discourage homeownership.
Fazio’s record of advocating for fiscal responsibility and balanced governance makes him an ideal running mate for Levy. His ability to craft practical solutions contrasts sharply with the dysfunction emanating from Hartford, where political cronyism and wasteful spending thrive. Together, Levy and Fazio could present a cohesive vision for Connecticut’s economic renewal and cultural preservation.
Lindy Urso: A Fierce Advocate for Individual Rights
Attorney Lindy Urso’s work in defending constitutional freedoms has earned him a reputation as a relentless advocate for justice. Most notably, Urso challenged the repeal of religious exemptions for school vaccination requirements, a controversial move by the state that critics argued infringed on individual liberties. Urso’s legal battles reflect a broader commitment to pushing back against government overreach, an issue that has become increasingly relevant in Connecticut under Democratic rule.
Lindy Urso’s candidacy for Attorney General would provide a necessary counterbalance to the politicization of the office under William Tong. Tong’s tenure has been criticized for prioritizing partisan agendas over fair and objective application of the law. A glaring example is the Jeremy Boland case, where a public school administrator in Cos Cob was caught on video discussing discrimination against conservatives in hiring decisions. The lack of meaningful investigation or accountability in this case highlights Tong’s selective enforcement of justice. Urso’s track record suggests he would bring integrity and impartiality back to the office.
Then there was also the matter of the State’s Constitutional overreach during the Covid conundrum addressed by Urso in the video link provided.
The Case for Change
Connecticut’s challenges are manifold: a bloated bureaucracy, skyrocketing housing costs exacerbated by overdevelopment in towns like Fairfield, and election integrity issues that undermine public trust. The election fraud allegations in Bridgeport, where Mayor Joe Ganim’s controversial re-election bid raised serious questions, serve as a microcosm of the state’s broader governance issues. Ganim’s past—including a federal prison sentence for racketeering—and his ability to regain office with minimal opposition illustrate the extent to which corruption has become normalized.
Moreover, Hartford’s obsession with the “Green Agenda” has saddled taxpayers with costly, inefficient programs while driving businesses out of the state. Meanwhile, policies like 8-30g—designed to address affordable housing—have often backfired, discouraging homeownership and eroding local decision-making. These issues require leaders who are not afraid to confront entrenched interests and offer bold, practical solutions.
Why This Team Can Win
Levy, Fazio, and Urso are not establishment placeholders; they are genuine leaders with the experience, vision, and tenacity to chart a new course for Connecticut. Their combined strengths—Levy’s personal story and business acumen, Fazio’s legislative pragmatism, and Urso’s fierce defense of individual rights—make them uniquely suited to dismantle the Democratic machine that has failed the state for decades.
The Connecticut GOP has an opportunity to break free from the inertia of its current leadership under Ben Proto. By fielding this “dream team,” Republicans can offer voters a compelling alternative and a real chance at reclaiming Connecticut’s future. It’s time for the state to embrace leaders who will prioritize the people over the process, and who will fight to restore integrity, prosperity, and liberty in Hartford.
